Green IT: APL acquires Neutreo, extending its expertise in the green IT field
Neutreo’s founder Caroline Vateau is appointed as manager of the Green IT department and joins the APL management committee. In this position, she will be in charge of developing offers aimed at improving environmental performance of players in the digital sector.
Montrouge, 2 October 2018 – APL, an expert in data centers, announces the acquisition of Neutreo, an environmental engineering consultancy company. This acquisition marks a new step in APL’s overall strategy to address the entire digital services value chain. A Green IT department is created, which will be managed by Caroline Vateau, founder of Neutreo and general secretary of the Alliance Green IT (AGIT), specialized in the reduction of environmental footprints and in the sustainable development of the digital sector.
Neutreo: an environmental engineering design office
Founded in 2010, Neutreo is an environmental engineering consultancy company which assists stakeholders in the digital sector (CIOs, data center managers, Web hosts, cloud operators, software vendors, etc.) with their efforts to measure and reduce their environmental impact, with ISO certification and with responsible communication. The company has developed a know-how and a proven methodology for designing eco-friendly digital products and services throughout their life cycle, from their creation through to the end of their operational lives.
Creation of a Green IT department
Following this acquisition, APL is creating a Green IT department which will be managed by Neutreo’s founder Caroline Vateau, who will also be joining the company’s management committee.
In this position, she will be in charge of developing environmental assessment and eco-design activities; consultancy services regarding standards and certifications, including ISO 14001 (environment), ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 50001 (energy), ISO 27001 (safety); support with CSR policies (corporate social responsibility); responsible digital strategy and communication or training concerning these subjects.

They enable us to meet emerging needs among existing clients by incorporating the green IT aspect, further extending the energy optimization services already proposed by APL”, explained Christophe Weiss, Managing Director of APL.
Caroline Vateau is a french expert in the sustainable IT field. Among other things, she is the General Secretary of the Alliance Green IT, an association which brings together digital players involved in the area of sustainable development. A trained engineer, she began her career in the Veolia Environnement Group, before founding Neutreo in 2010.
