The many dimensions of cloud eco-responsibility
Since November 2020, the Planet Tech'Care initiative, led by Numeum and its network of partners, has been running a series of online conferences and workshops, designed to inform the market about technological advances, tools and innovations to reduce the environmental footprint of digital technology.
For its workshop #16, Planet Tech’Care asked the EuroCloud France association to consider the eco-responsibility of the cloud, and its many dimensions.
To answer this complex question, several members of the association took part in the debate:
- Emmanuelle Olivié-Paul, AdVaes: presentation of the white paper “Pistes de réflexion autour de la responsabilité sociétale et environnementale du cloud” (Areas for reflection on societal and environmental responsibility in the cloud);
- Caroline Vateau, APL Data Center: presentation of NegaOctet, a tool for measuring the end-to-end environmental impact of the cloud;
- Vivien Pezerat, oodrive: feedback on measuring the carbon footprint of SaaS applications;
- Romain Gabriel, Datafarm: presentation of new solutions for supplying data centers with low-carbon energy;
- Xavier Poisson-Gouyou-Beauchamps, HPE: how can swarm learning help reduce energy consumption in data centers?
