APL Data Center is stepping up the pace of its growth by opening an office in Marseille
APL, a consultancy and engineering firm specializing in the design and production of data centers, is continuing its regional growth with the opening of an office in Marseille. After Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux and Lausanne (Switzerland), this new establishment marks a major step in APL's growth strategy.
This new territorial local establishment means that the firm can respond to the growing trend of data center creation in Marseille. Over a few years Marseille has become the main telecommunications hub of southern Europe, and the ninth largest in the world, with the arrival of 14 submarine cables from Africa and Asia, and terrestrial Ultra-High Bandwidth. The engineers present will provide local support for SMEs and local authorities, in a context where demand for design and production of data centers in the region is growing constantly.
APL is already present in the PACA region [Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur], with revenue of 9 million Euros in the region in 2020, and, with this establishment, is demonstrating its determination to build real local partnerships with local economic actors, including its existing clients, both public and private: Grand Port Maritime de Marseille, Aéroport Marseille Provence, Aix-en-Provence Municipality, Air France, and also Interxion, for which construction of its MRS4 data center, in the port of Marseille, will be finalized by summer 2022.
APL’s new Marseille office, directed by Sébastien Ollier, already has several full-time employees who have been recruited locally. “We intend to build up the team gradually to support the increase in activity around Marseille and in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. With this new office APL will help to support the strong economic growth in the region in that most of strategic of areas, digital“, explains Sébastien Ollier, director of APL Data Center Marseille.
As in the other regions, in PACA APL will deploy data centers in symbiosis with their environment, reducing their visual, acoustic and environmental impact to the greatest degree possible. Under our Organic Design mission, responsibility becomes the core of our activity, reconciling the growing need for data centers with sustainable development of the territory.”, says Christophe Weiss, managing director of APL.
