APL is building a colocation data center for DTiX in Burgundy-Franche-Comté
DTiX, a new data center operator, has decided to locate its first colocation site in the Dijon metropolitan area, close to the A39 / A6 freeways and the main fiber optic networks. The company has chosen to entrust the design and turnkey construction of this data center to APL, a consulting and engineering firm specializing in data centers.
Montrouge, January 29, 2020 – APL, the data center expert, announces that DTiX, a new data center operator, has entrusted it with the design and turnkey construction of its first colocation site in Dijon, with a total IT area of 450 m². Named DTiX ITcenter, this data center is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2020. It has been designed by APL to offer very high levels of uptime (Tier III architecture), security and energy and environmental performance (free cooling, target PUE of less than 1.5).
Very high levels of service continuity, security and energy performance
This new colocation data center has been designed by APL to offer a very high level of security and energy performance, in order to host the most critical information systems and maintain them in operational conditions. Its Tier III architecture guarantees very high availability of the hosted IT equipment (availability of 99.98%). Two backup power generators have been provided to take over in the event of a power outage.
The site will be protected by a biometric authentication system, a one-person airlock access system and 24/7 video surveillance. The data center has been designed and will be operated in compliance with the requirements of the ISO 27001 security management standard. DTiX also intends to offer the possibility of renting private racks or cages in spaces compatible with the requirements of solutions publishers and hosts and meeting the HDS (health data) or PCI-DSS (banking data) standards.
As regards energy efficiency, this data center will comply with the European Code of Conduct for Energy Efficiency in Data Centres. APL has implemented the best practices and technological innovations in order to reduce energy consumption and achieve a target PUE of less than 1.5. For example, cold production will be achieved in N+1 with three integrated free-cooling units. In the long term, DTiX intends to obtain ISO 14001 and 50001 certifications to attest its low energy and environmental impact.
A strategic location and a scalable site
The first phase of the data center will have a hosting capacity of 120 computer racks distributed in three rooms, for a total IT area of 450 m². The design offers planning flexibility, allowing DTiX to market its rack or private cage hosting services.
Located in the Dijon metropolitan area close to the A39 / A6 freeways and the main fiber optic networks, DTiX ITcenter will use two optical distribution rooms to offer telecom operators backup access paths to the metropolis of Dijon, Besançon, Lyon or Paris.
As a “neutral” data center, DTiX ITcenter will also offer a trading room to its customers for their IT links (IP transit or point-to-point access) as well as for their IT services or outsourcing needs.
