CSR: APL signs the United Nations Global Compact

APL Data Center is now a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact. By signing this agreement, we are demonstrating our commitment to integrating its ten principles into our corporate strategy, culture, and day-to-day activities. This marks a new stage in the structuring of our CSR approach.

We are proud to announce that we have joined the United Nations Global Compact, a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption:

Human Rights

1. Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
2. make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

Labor

3. Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
4. the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labor;
5. the effective abolition of child labor; and
6. the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

Environment

7. Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
8. undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
9. encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Anti-corruption

10. Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
We are committed to promoting this approach among our employees, customers, suppliers, and partners. Each year, we will reaffirm our commitment and publish a document for our stakeholders detailing our initiatives and progress with regard to these ten principles.

About the Global Compact

Launched in 2000 by then UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, the United Nations Global Compact is a call to companies everywhere to align their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment, and anti-corruption.

Its mission is to guide and support the global business community in promoting the goals and values of the United Nations through responsible business practices. With more than 24,000 companies in over 167 countries and 61 local networks, it is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative.

The Global Compact is also the starting point for any organization seeking to take ownership of and support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted in September 2015. These goals constitute a universal agenda to be implemented by 2030 in order to build the future of our societies together.

As the official body representing the United Nations Global Compact in France, the Global Compact Network France (Pacte mondial de l’ONU – Réseau France) brings together over 2,000 companies and 100 organizations committed to developing their CSR approach within this framework. It has also been mandated by the UN to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals by the French business world.
