White paper – Managing and optimizing the environmental impact of data centers
The Alliance Green IT (AGIT), an association whose aim is to identify and share best practices for a more environmentally responsible digital world, has published a new white paper.
Produced by some twenty contributors - academics, hosting companies, engineering firms, institutions and users - including APL, its aim is to identify levers to make data centers more environmentally responsible and ensure they are compatible with the ambitions of sustainable development.
Among the points developed in this white paper:
- What is the role of the data center? How does it work? What are its components?
- What eco-design and eco-construction actions should be prioritized to make data centers more environmentally responsible?
- What good environmental practices are already in place, and on what scale?
- What techniques are emerging in the data center industry, and what research and development work is underway?
